I began my work in jewelry after a high school “mini course” peaked my interest in the late 70’s. I became increasingly fascinated by the interplay between humankind’s desire for control and order, and the havoc nature wreaks on this aspiration. As a result I love molten metal, where the material is, for a time, allowed to move as it wills. Some seek the perfectly polished, unmarred surface; I adore texture, and purposely leave tarnish and discoloration in as part of the decoration. Thus my jewelry moves between the organic and the controlled. My pieces also tend to be dramatic, both in materials selection and sometimes in size. They are intended to make a statement, or command a presence.
